I am trying to make contact with ancestors of my great great grandfather, John Barry. His father was also named, John, and the records I have is his mother was Eliza Hickey. My great great grandfather was born in Watergrasshill, County of Cork on January 6, 1839, however, I have a birth certificate which gives February 3, 1838. John had two brothers, James and Richard who emigrated to the U.S. in the mid 1800's. I believe he had a sister, Elizabeth who I believe stayed in Ireland, and married into the Ahern family. The last known region of Ireland for Elizabeth was Bally Hully. It is my understanding that John emigrated to the U.S. in 1870, and settled in Iowa. He married Louisa Ketterer in 1880. John died on November 16, 1911 in Decatur County, Iowa. I would really appreciate any assistance which can be given to me in researching this families history.
