Notice dated 11 February 1876: Alexander MACKAY, bachelor, a miner aged 30 living at Ohinemuri, length of residence 9 years, to marry Alice GREEN, a spinster aged 16, living at Ohinemuri, length of residence 1 year, at St Francis Roman Catholic Church, Thames. Person giving Consent in Case of a Minor to Marry: George GREEN, father. Minister: Rev. CHARTAGNON

Hi Nicky,
Very difficult to verify info on children because your Alexander MacKay married Alice Green in 1876 and an Alexander MacKay married an Alice Stott in 1878, therefore having children born in the same years ...

Dont know if ths is your ancestor or not: Alexander MacKay - scrill to end

In 1892 an Alexander MacKay was charged in the Paeroa court with being Drunk & Disorderly

In 1900 he was living in Paeroa: Miner of Paeroa

In 1901 he missed out on buying the Sir Colin Campbell Mine

In 1901 he sent a Petition to Government stating that in 1866 he discovered gold in the Martha and Rosemount Hills in Waihi. In 1867 he discovered gold at Karangahake, in 1869 at Owharoa and in 1875 at Te Aroha

In 1904 he was living on one eigth of an acre on Junction Rd, Paeroa

In 1908 he sued John Featon in the Paeroa Court for a half interest in the Baxton #1 & #2

In 1909 his application for 100 acres was granted

In 1910 he was in Court in Paeroa for a "Scandalous Thing"

In 1910 Alexander was taken to court by Albert Burcher and others who sued him for dissolution of the partnership in connection with the Joseph Chamberlain claim between Owharoa and Waitekauri

Thank you so much ngaire! Yes I believe this is My Great Great Grandfather. He was a fairly wealthy man when he died, as i have his last will and testament. Family stories state that he was drunk and disorderly often. The witness, Hannah Leaming, mentioned in article where he sued John Featon, is my Great Great Grandmother! Fantastic! Thanks again :-)
