STRONGMAN Davis searching for whanau, as I'm the great,great,great,great granddaughter of :Davis Strongman & Matilda Strongman (Nee :Edmonds) I have some pictures of Davis Strongman along with his sons :Andrew,Robert ,etc,Also trying to find his Father : Samuel Brown Strongman was a British seaman & trader who called into the Bay of Islands ports,Other Strongman family also traveled with him & eventually settled in other parts of New Zealand.A very dark - skinned slave girl ( Mrs Cook "My Great Grand Aunty",suggested that the girl's colouring indicated she may have come from Matakana Island,Tauranga her name was Black Annie) was living with the Ngapuhi at Kerikeri,she had been captured during a Ngapuhi raid - a customary way of securing outside help in those days according to My Great,Grand Aunty "Mrs Matilda Cook".Davis Strongman's mother Black Annie was temporarily loaned to Samuel Strongman,while he was up in the Bay of Islands ,When Samuel left, he never acknowledged or ever visit his Son Davis Strongman, Now I was wondering if anyone can help me on finding out the identity of Black Annie,especially if she had come from Matakana Island,Tauranga.Is there any history of the Ngapuhi,going way down to Tauranga, on there raids.* a customary way of securing outside help in those days according to my Great,Great,Grand-Aunty Mrs Matilda Cook.
