Franz 'Frank' Uhlenberg was born in 1858 in Prussia (research continuing) to Johan UHLENBERG & Rosalia JELINSKI

he arrived in New Zealand before 1877

he married Juliana 'Julia' MISCHEWSKI on 18th August 1877
- they had 11 children in and around Midhurst Taranaki

- Juliana was born in 1861 in Kokoschken, Stargard, (West) Prussia (now Kokoszkowy, Starogard Gdanski, Poland)
- she arrived on the "Fritz Reuter" in 1876 with her father Johann age 41, her stepmother Caroline age 22, Jacob age 13, Catherine age 9, Franziska age 1, Joseph age 6, Lucia age 24, and Johanne age 19

the children of Franz & Juliana were:

1878 - Barbara Franciska Uhlenberg
- married John Thomas KENEALY in 1899

1879 - Johan Franz Uhlenberg

1881 - Franz 'Frank' Uhlenberg
- died in 1901 aged 19
- his effects were granted to his father Frank, a farmer of Midhirst, as next of kin

1883 - Osmund Augustus Uhlenberg
- died aged 82 in 1966

1885 - Clara Agnes Uhlenberg
- married Francis Leo PATTEN in 1908
- had 12 children in Wiatara
- died aged 53 in New Plymouth Hospital
- buried Te Henui

1886 - Annie Uhlenberg
- was in Standard I Midhurst School in 1895
- married Charles Richard LATHAM in 1913

1888 - Mary Frances Uhlenberg
- possibly didn't marry
- died in 1941 aged 53

1889 - Joseph Uhlenberg
- died in 1918 aged 28

1890 - Rosalie Uhlenberg
- married Theodore COOKSON in 1913

1891 - Martha Uhlenberg

1895 - Julia Helena Uhlenberg
- married John Herbert TAPP in 1914


Julia died in July 1908
- her death notice

A Farmers Unexplained Death of the Midhirst district in 1916 has not yet been verified as one of the above
- the inquest into his death was reopened when it was discovered he had been hit by a motor car and his body had been dumped into the ditch in which he was found as his injuries would have prevented him from getting there himself
- his estate was valued for Stamp Duty in June 1916 as worth ?2268 (an equivalent value in June 2010 of $276,180)
