Hi Nigel,
Did they ever venture to Australia, say in the 1850's? You see I have a John Chapple, from Exeter, Devon, England, UK. (Born 1806) who arrived with family in Australia, with wife Ann/Annie (nee Oke)and children?

I married into an Ilfracombe Chapple family and researching they married in Barnstaple and moved about a bit so there may be a connection. Not looked at what I have (which isn't a lot) but there may be a connection. Names which have cropped up include Lerwill and others. I will have to check and get back to you.
