Looking for Harold Gowsell, WWI soldier
I'm looking for information on my mother's father (both deceased).
He was born 1893 in Ciply, Belgium as Harold James Gowsell. His father's name was James William Gowsell. His stated profession was stone cutter. He was married to my grandmother in Folkestone, Kent, England on December 9th, 1917 at Church of St. Peters. He was a soldier in WW I. My grandmother's maiden name was Beatrice Cook. Her father's name was Albert and mother's name was Esther. They had a child who was born in England (my mother) named Vera Beatrice. They sailed to Canada to Winnipeg, Manitoba where I believe Harold Gowsell's parents were living.
They separated very soon after, my grandmother taking my mother and living on her own. Harold Gowsell's mother contacted her later, informing her that Harold had died (possibly 10 years later) and my grandmother remarried.
Because my grandparents separated on very unfriendly terms, my grandmother never kept a single picture of him but my sisters and I would like to have known a little more about him and a picture would be wonderful.

evmc,
There was a Harold James Gowsell who joined the Canadian Army in WW1 on 1916 but he was born in Canada in 1899, his father, James Gowsell of Plainfield Ontario was his next of kin.
His Attestation papers are on the Library and Archives Canada site under Soldiers of the First World War-CEF
