missing passenger records?

on may 1896 my great-grandfather came to america, deported from bremen, with him his wife and 4 children, the ships list i have is in high german, i can't find port of arrival

Have you tried looking for ports in Canada? I am told that many immigrants landed there and came across the border later on.
