Many old newspapers are now digitised and if you search the Tasmanian papers there is a fair number of articles for Daft including the death notice for Ellen Frances Daft the wife of Leslie Daft of Lietinna in 1935.
goto http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper?q= then search under name or names then select the newspaper. I sometimes use inverted commas eg; "Leslie Daft" or "Daft"
You can check for WW2 records as well, goto http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/name.asp#searchtabs

Hello,
I've just found this post whilst I was searching for my Great Uncle Leslie, on my mothers side.
If your still looking for some missing bits of information i may be able to help you, my grandfather was Alfred J Daft whose wife was Joan James, his father was William Alfred Daft and Leslie Daft was his uncle, i'm from Cheltenham in England where all of the Dafts seem to be from before Leslie served in the army.
My grandfathers sister Rita unfortunately passed away a couple of weeks ago and there were some family photo albums at her funeral, i remember seeing one of Leslie in his army uniform looking very proud!
I can see above that you've already managed to find some information, but f you were still trying to piece together some family pieces, i would be happy to see if i could help you x

Rose,
I have just joined Family circles and have come across your post. It appears to have been made quite some tome ago however I will supply the following information in the hope that you find it. Alfred George Daft Born June 1928, Son of Leslie George Daft and Ellen Frances Daft died some years ago. He was married to June Fay Daft (nee Sharpe)(Dec). They had two Children Danielle Fay and Alfred John who I believe still reside in Brisbane, Queensland. This information is correct and supplied by his nephew Tom. You may contact me via email tlemmerton@gmail.com for further information if required.
Hi
I received your post on 27/1/2016.
It has been awhile since I have been on Family Circles.
I was surprised to receive an answer to my post.
The information you supplied was very helpful thank you.
I look forward to hearing from you and exchanging information.
Kind Regards
Michael
Hello Michael,
I must admit I was surprised to hear of your existence although, I had only met my uncle Alf on a few occasions my mother Betty who is now 85 years old has informed me that she did not know either. Rita, mum's younger sister and her husband have sadly passed away. I am, I suppose your eldest surviving cousin (Although you have quite a few!).
My wife Kathleen is our family history researcher (I must admit I have only a passing interest!)We do hold records of Leslie's war service. If you are interested let me know and I will attempt to scan them and forward to you. By the way where do you reside (My wife may wish to correspond with you to fill in detail)
Regards,
Tom
