I have only just signed up on this site and I am very interested in the HOLMAN family who were known as the HOLMAN Opera Company in the 1800's. This company was formed by George HOLMAN and his wife Harriet who with their children Sarah (known as Sallie), Alfred and Julia toured the eastern United States and Canada from the late 1850's to the early 1880's.

I have some information about the family already and I know they once had a summer house in Ontario. Also I have found some old photo's but would really like to find more.

My family name is DALTON and I live in England UK. I have recently discovered that Sarah (Sallie) Holman married a James, Totty, DALTON who is related to my family. He was born in Staffordshire, England, UK and was a baritone. I would like to know how he met Sarah(Sallie, I am assuming that he must have gone to Canada and met her there. perhaps because they were both in the singing profession they met through there work. I have no photo's of him but I am always looking.

I am also interested to know more about Harriet HOLMAN and her son Benjamin from a previous marriage. She was of Jewish origin and in an iten display I found it calls her Harriet PHILLIPS, nee JACOBS(JACKSON) which I found a bit confusing.
