Jane (PILCHER?), presumably illegitimate daughter of Edward PILCHER (1817-1868) of Bifrons, Patrixbourne, nr. Canterbury

Question by jamac

We have a photograph of Jane, in not very flattering, untidy ringlets, which was taken in June 1878 in Birmingham by W. Sherrell (Photographer), of 107, Newhall Street, Corner of Ann Street, Birmingham. Very difficult to say how old she was at the time ? anything from mid teens to late twenties? On the reverse of the photo somebody (she?) has written with a flourish: ?Jane Pilcher, daughter of Edward Pilcher (who was a bachelor) of Bifrons Nr. Canterbury, 1878?. FINIS? (!) In 1861 two of Edward?s married sisters, Jane GAUSBY and Emily ROBINSON, were living in Wordsworth Place, Aston, Birmingham, and possibly Edward?s daughter Jane was living or staying with them in 1868? But who was she? What surname did she use? We have no other family record of her.
