Hi
Do you have a James Henderson DEMPSTER from Burntisland on your tree?

HI There:

I have looked into my files and have not come across a James Henderson Dempster. I'm not saying he isn't there, just haven't found a reference to him as yet. Will continue search.

Hi Elaine:

Sorry, No mention of a James Henderson Dempster in my files. Second name Henderson is commonly used in our line, don't have one.

Again, sorry.

All the best,

Emerson

Im looking for the family of Ann Dempster from Dumfries. She was born about 1807 and married Gordon Murray or McMurray about 1826 also from Dumfries. They were lead miners at Carsphairn lead mine, them emigrated to Canada and were Copper miners and then to Michigan where they were iron ore miners. The whole family traveled together. If they followed the naming of the children in proper scottish order her father should be Robert Dempster and mother Agnes somebody. Children were Agnes, James, Janet, Grace, Robert, Alexander, Thomas, John, another John. I hope I didn't leave anyone out. Ann and Gordon Murray died in Michigan in 1873, Her first and then him. Thanks ahead of time.

Our clan is from Dumfries as well. I can go back as far as 1745 to Andrew Dempster. He married Marrion McMillian on or about 1760. They had, according to my research, ten children. Their sixth child Samual was born 1772 in Craignecoon, Tyron, Dumfries. He married Mary Crosbie and had, according to my records 8 children. Their second oldest, William imagrated to Canada in 1824(Saint John, New Brunswick) William would be my GG Grandfather.I have not found any mention of an Ann in my files, although there is an Agnes a few generations back, but she was born Dempster. Names like John, Thomas and James are all over my files, sorry. Don't be a stranger.

I have an Andrew Dempster on my side born 11 Mar, 1766. I'm guessing he was born in Craignecoon, Tyron, Dumfries. Andrew was the son of Andrew and Marrion ( McMillan ) Dempster. Any connection?
