I'm curious to learn a little more about what your research is. My maiden name is Cowie. My dad's line is from Aberdeen, Scotland from what I have collected. My maternal grandmother's mom was married twice, the second time to an Oliver. I know very little about the Oliver's, as I am a descendent from the first marriage to a Mus(s)elman(n), but the little I do know is that they were from Canada. I would be happy to share more, if you are interested. I don't know what you would want, so I look forward to hearing from you.
Like wise, I am related to a William Ramsay Cowie born 28 Mar 1875, St Andrew, Dundee City.
His parents are:
COWIE John, b. 1849, Kirkden, Angus
MCNAUGHTON Margaret, b. 1839, Panbride, Angus
John Cowie's parents are:
COWIE George, b. 1807
MORUM Ann, b. 1815
Margaret McNaughton's parents are:
MCNAUGHTON William, b. 1801, Monkikie, Forfar
GORDON Isabella, b. 1802
William Ramsey Cowie married Lily Trevor in Ripon, York - they had several children of which Mary Trevor Cowie, b. 10 Jan 1913, Great Ouseburn, Yorkshire is my Granmother.
Is this of interest to you can you see a contection?

I have a family tie to the COWIE surname.
My great, great grandparents, Robert Sinclair (1838-1901) and wife Ann Pettigrew (1841-1916) were from East Linton, Scotland. Robert?s parents were John Sinclair (1808-1891) and Margaret Hislop (1814-1879).
Margaret?s parents were David Hislop and Isabella Cowie. There are several ancestors hints for Isabella Cowie on Ancestory.ca (Mark WILKIE?s family tree)
Best of Luck
