I am trying to assist my husband in locating his ancestors on his mothers side McLellan. His grandmother was Margaret Welby nee McLellan born approx 1880 not sure where. Poss Ireland, Scotland??
Her parents were Alexander McLellan and Mary McLellan nee Downie. We believe they both were born in Ireland??? His grandmother died at an early age 46 in 1926 in Clackmananshire Scotland.
If anyone has any information that may help, it would be greatly appreciated.

This should give you her fathers name and occupation as well as her supposed age and her occupation and the address she was living at the time of her marriage and also information on Robert as well.
I noticed that you have a tree on ancestry with Isabella Welby b1907 Scotland with no further information and other children are the children "Living" born before Isabella or after as it shows born before.
Do you have any birth certificates for any of the other children to confirm the information.

andrewndiana on 2011-08-01 21:45:11No, unfortunately I don't and I haven't subscribed to Scotlands People site not sure how to make the payment at this point. All the children of Margaret Welby nee McLellan are not longer living. My husband's mother was Alexandra, the second youngest child but it does not give details to assist me other than mother and father's name.
There is a thought that a number of the older children were either born before Margaret and Robert wed or maybe Robert is not their father. On Margaret's death certificate it lists her parents as Alexander and Mary McLellan.
Thanks for assistance - I am a novice with this process but hopefully I will have success eventually.
