She married the next yeaR 4 February 1846 at St.James. Josiah died on the 24 February 1845, He's buried at the cemetery by old St.James Cathedral at Docklands (used to be West Melbourne) Ann Bird had a daughter to George HALL, CAROLINE ANN HALL b:1848 in Fitzroy died 1894 in Melbourne.
The daughter married Thomas Cawthorne. I believe they lived at Woods Point and could have owned the Commercial Hotel at Woods Point, (which is still a very fine pub I might add :)
As far as Ann Hall goes I don't know.Difficult without a death date but you never know, you could give St.James a call, see if she's buried there and find out about Josiah Fletcher.

An Inquest was held for Josiah's death in 1845. Cause of death was accidental drawning. Inquest Ref: #16. Occupation recorded as Reaper. You can obtain a copy of the Inquest papers from the Public Record Office in North Melbourne if interested. It will make interesting reading and should give you a few more details about him.

* in reference to another of your posts, Newtown is not in Melbourne it is in Geelong.
Newtown was also known as Scaresdale.
I know Newtown is near Geelong, but l thought there was a 'newtown'
next to Collingwood 1840's as John Fletcher was b Newtown Melb
and Josiah and family lived Brunswick St.Collingwood,
You're right, so there was. I think it was up off spring Street somewhere. Up towards Victoria Parade. I'll have a look at an old map tomorrow. I don't have one here at home.
"Brunswick Street, believed to be named after Captain Brunswick Smythe, owes its origins to Benjamin Baxter, who owned a lot of land along Victoria Parade, in the recently proclaimed township of Newtown (now Brunswick South). Baxter's lot was Lot 49, which was adjacent to Lot 48 on the north-west corner of Victoria Parade and Nicholson Street."
There you go, I've learn't something new today
Compolsory registration of births started in 1853. The births recorded in the VBI between 1836 and 1853 are baptism records. When you looked up John's birth you found he was born in Newtown in 1843. You will also see Denomination: Roman Catholic, and, Parish: St Francis Church Melbourne. This is where his baptism was recorded. Hope this explains why Newtown and Melbourne have been recorded by the VBI.

Funeral Notices.
THE Friends of the late Mr. EDWARD CHAFFE
are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of interment, the New Cemetery, Melbourne. The funeral to move from his residence, Albion township, near Saltwater River, this day, Thursday, March 3, at 12 o'clock noon.
JOHN DALEY, undertaker, corner La Trobe and Spring streets, Melbourne.
Well done Jan.
This seems to fit with the death I have for Edward CHAFFE. The VDI does not record his place of death, but we know his last child was born in Albion in 1856. The residence of this Edward CHAFFE is also in Albion, so it must be him.
I will have to update my post again for Edward and Emline CHAFFE and include this funeral notice.
Hope your keeping up with all this Lynda.

There could be more but that's all I could find tonight. Although the immigration and Hall's death is correct you need to check everything else.
Now a marriage for Ann Hall after 1850 or a death or both would be great. (tonkin :)
Of course she could have gone to Jerilderie or Sydney.
Thank you ,I have that much work to do now,I wil get back to you
to ask questions if thats all right.
Thanks again
Your on the ball Jan.
Caroline Ann HALL and Thomas George CAWTHORNE were married in 1865. Record searchers to date tell me they had eleven children between 1866 and 1888.
I'm looking at the death for Thomas as 1891 in East Brunswick aged 52 years. And it looks like Caroline died in the East Melbourne Hospital in 1894 aged 47 years.
Only need to chase up marriage and death details of their children, and I will do this tomorrow.
@ lynda1.
Take note there was more than one Caroline and Thomas Cawthorne in Melbourne.
during the 1890's

The Caroline CAWTHORNE that died in the Alfred Hospital in 1892 was the daughter of Richard ROWE and Sarah KINDALL.
I posted a family record for Caroline HALL and Thomas CAWTHORNE a few years back but don't know if lynda1 ever picked it up.
