URIAH RICHARDS
Hi
Does anyone have any information about a Uriah Richards born 1810 Westonzoyland, Somerset. He emigrated to Antioch Illinois with his wife Ann Ellis, and had several children.
He appears to be pretty elusive, so if anyone has any information I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Tracey

May I suggest looking on familysearch.org
It is a great site for finding births, marriages, deaths, census records, etc.
Best wishes in finding your family information.

Thank you everyone for all the detailed information. It's such a great help. I'm really sorry for the delay in answering, but I've been in a little trouble, as my mother has recently passed away.
As far as I can see Uriah b1810, must be a very near relation of my great great grandfather, Alfred, b1819 Westonzoyland. It's not a very big place - I was also born there, although don't live there now. So it seems that nearly all of the Richards' there were interrelated - also most of the village in fact!
Thank you again for all of the information. I've certainly got a lot to work on now.

Hello, Tracey.
I believe Uriah, Sr. is my great-great-great-grandfather.
My grandpa is Ward C. Richards. His dad was John Richards. His dad was George Thomas Richards, who is buried in Shell Rock, IA along with his older brother Uriah, Jr. I'm pretty sure Uriah, Sr. was their father, who is buried in East Fox Lake Cemetery.
My Grandpa, Ward (Bud) Clarence Richards, is buried in Waverly, IA.
I just started researching my family tree tonight. Let me know how we can help each other. Thanks!
Freddie Richards, Jr.
Tracey,
The Weston Zoyland Marriage Register from April 27, 1835 indicates that Uriah Richards, Eliza Ellis And Pamela Ellis all signed as witnesses to the marriage of George Champion (widower) and Eleanor (signed Ellinore) Ellis, she was 20 at the time. Eliza and Pamela are the older sisters of my gg grandfather Caleb (KIA, Wisconsin 6th inf, 1865)
It appears as though Eleanor was baptized under the name of Helena Ellis in 1815.
Eliza Ellis married a John Dowden in 1841 at the age of 25 and is appears as though they stayed in England while some of the family came to the US via Malone, NY and at least one brother, Andrew, via Chicago. Kent Ellis
Some additional information about Ellis relatives from Weston Zoyland, Somerset County, England born to Thomas and Joan Ellis married in 1812.
Childrens names are Ann(1/20/1813), Helena 5/21/1815), Eliza (12/25/1816), Pamela (4/11/1819), Thomas (10/29/1820), Andrew (9/1/1822), Arabella (4/30/1826), Caleb (7/12/1829), John (1/1/1832), Naomi (11/22/1834.
