LONERGAN of Tipperary Ireland

Journal by longago

Hello,I am tracing my grandmothers side of the tree, LONERGAN of Tipperary,so far I have,Mary Lonergan (my gran) on the Durrow Town parks Census, age 9,her sisters Margaret and Julia age 5 and 3,her brother Thomas age 7,parents are Thomas age 55 born 1844 and his wife Mary age31 she is from kings county,he is from Tipperary.

They lived in Durrow laois Ireland, which is where my mother was born.

I have found their son Thomas born 1896,he died in the first war age 22,and is buried at Duisans British Cemetery Etrun,Nord -pas-Calais France, his record states he died Accidentally(curious phrase).

I am trying to find more on his parents(My G.Grandparents)if anyone is searching for the same family, please get in touch.

Hello Barbee,My problem is,not knowing exactly where in Tipps he came from,so I wouldn't know if your Bridgette is related,I have no idea of Thomas's wife Mary's surname, they must have died in Durrow laois,as thats where their daughter(my gran )lived and died, gran married Patrick Cashin, from Durrow.
Who is Bridgette to you,and when was she born(I'm hoping there a connection, sister maybe?)

I have found,in my other tree's that the Christian names are passed through the family, and my gran had named one of her daughter's Bridgette.

I also remember my mother telling me,the name Lonergan is pronounced Londrigan by Tipperary people, even though the spelling is still as Lonergan,(My mother always said her mothers name was Londrigan)

Did your Bridgette marry in Tipperary?

Thank you for your response

Hello Graham...........It seems you have the family i am researching,I was in touch quite a while ago with,a phelan in durrow but ,I beleive she was hacked(not her ,the computer ,haha)as i received a begging later, supposedly from her, saying she was stuck abroad and would i send money, its obvious she was hacked, I tried to get in touch but, have heard nothing since.

I did manage to get quite a bit of info on the Cashins, its the lonergans i am stuck with,I have no idea where in Tipperary they came from.

My mother would have known Bridy, she knew Dolly, Maureen,John ,their father was brother to mums father.

I left a couple of messages on the Durrow laois site, but still no contact.

Thank you for your response, Teresa
