Heresay may be all it is becdean. According to the WW2 Nominal Roll Norman was not a prisoner of war.

If you would like to take a look at Norman's details just 'Google WW2' and you will be taken to the site. It's an easy site to use and you should have no problems.

Let me know how you go.

His records are in Canberra. I did try to gather them for you, however, the status of these records are 'NOT YET EXAMINED'. This is because they were not submitted to the archives till 2002. you can request a copy of his records through the National Archives. They charge you a fee. Normally the fee is $16-50 but with 'Not Yet Examined' records I think it is a bit more. These copies will take up to 90 days to reach you. The series number for his records is B883 and the bar code is 6137526

Hi becdean,

I recently obtained Army records from the Australian National Archives which covered WW2 and a period after WW2, these cost me $25. The staff were very helpful and the service was excellent.

Regards
Gerry
