David and Virginia CLUTTER

Journal by irishgirlgreen

I'm looking for any information anyone can give me on my great great grandparents, David and Virginia CLUTTER. David b. 1865 d. 1951. Virginia b. 1866 d. 1942. I know they had twin boys, one of them Lee A. CLUTTER and that the other twin left one day and was never heard from again. Lee married Gertrude THORSTINSON and they lived in Burlington, MI. Lee died in 1969 and Gertrude in the 1980's. They had like 10 kids. I have no records that go further than David and Virginia.

May I suggest you tell us where David and Virginia were born and died and the place of marriage. This helps in any search as there are lots of people with the same name.

I suggest trying familysearch.org once you know the area as you could find them on the census records, find births, marriages and death records.

Best wishes in your research.

Thanks. I know they are buried in Homer, MI. And I know they lived in northern MI (lower pen.)at some time. Other than that I am pretty clueless. I just found out David was David by findidng him in the cemetery with Virginia. I intend on visiting the cemetery today and if the library is open in Homer I will check for an obit.

According to familysearch , the United States Census, for 1910 gives Lee A Clutter as born 1896 in Ohio.
In 1910 the household were living in Milford, Knox, Ohio and the family was:
Parents : David Clutter aged 44.
Virginia A Clutter aged 43.
With: Ural S Clutter Male aged 19
Lily B Clutter female aged 18
Lee A Clutter aged 14
And lastly, Varney C Clutter aged 4 years.

So it seems the missing twin left home aged 14 or younger.
Looks like this story needs further investigation.
Good luck............

Thank you my Australian friend:) good work as always.

I do indeed need to investigate further. I found no obit in the Homer paper, but did find a headstone in the cemetery. I'll have to try to get more out of grandma about the disappearing twin and see what I can find out.
