They lived in Lawrence and Morgan Counties in Alabama. James and Catharine moved to Arkansas about 1878 to Van Buren Co, Arkansas, with Catharine's family, William Pearson and Martha Christenberry and children. They homesteaded for several years. Catharine died, and James married her sister Alice. They moved on to Conway Co,Arkansas. Then to Johnson/Logan County. This is where the family stayed.
