Believe lived on or near the Rhine river near Alsace Lorraine. Left their mill, plum orchard, cattle & possibly bakery in a rowboat (without permission) in 1866, to avoid the impending Franco-Prussian war. They got to Antwerp, Belgium. Arrived in New York on ship (Bark?), Catherine, April 26 1866. Later the property became an orphanage or childrens' home.
Been trying to find their home area in Germany for 25+ years. Would appreciate any help!!
