Nelson in Arkansas

Journal by sunshine76670

I am researching the Enoch R Nelson family from Montgomery County, AR. Here is a link where my tree is posted, My Heritage Tree Enoch, Archibald, and Marshall Nelson were brothers. Their mother's name was Nancy. Who was their father? Enoch is my g-g-grandfather. He joined Co C, 4th AR Infantry CSA in 1862. He disappeared from his unit in Louden, TN June 1863. He went home to AR because his family was starving. 2 men rode up on horseback and took him away. He was never seen again. The men could have been Union soldiers, Quantrell's Raiders, or even Confederate soldiers. Whoever they were must have killed him. The family did not probate his will until 1879 when his sons were grown.

I am also researching the KNOTT, SEVIER, MITCHELL families on my husbands's side and the DAUER & DELANEY families on my mother's side. My g-g-grandfather, Andreas Dauer, and his soon to be wife, Katherine Schmidt, came to the United States from Germany, and married 22 Dec. 1868, in Randolph County, IL. Andreas died in about 1881 and left Katherina with 4 children.
