Publishing a Family Tree

Question by caroleleebarron

If you have experience in publishing a Family Tree, or even in researching how to publish a Family Tree, I would appreciate your information.
I planning to publish a Genealogy Report of the 9 generations I have found during my research, over the past 14 years. I will use Family Tree Maker for the Genealogy Report, but am not sure how to format the book. Should I breakup the 110 page report into chapters, by generation. Also would self publishing be an viable option of is a Publishing Co. better??
Thanks

Dear Carole

I am in the same position as you. After doing 15 years of research I now want to put everything into a book.
One of our distant relatives have written a book on their side of the family and they have a web site with a lot of the book on and for each family there is a family tree so you know who is who. The site is deargrandchildren.net/
It might give you some ideas. Like dear grandchildren I am only writing the book for my family so will self publish.
Good luck

Sueclem,
Thanks for the response. I Like the Idea of having a family tree chart for each branch, I was wondering how to handle the differt surnames that married into the family. I will check out the site you recommended. I am also leaing toward self puplishing, but realize there may be elements I am not aware of to make a proffessional looking book. Good luck on your publishing endevor.

Hi Arlie,
Thanks for the response. What is the reason to get a Family Tree copywrite??
