Looking for parents of Joseph Patterson

I have Joseph Patterson b. 21 Dec 1818 in Kentucky d. 19 Jun 1869 in Germantown, Bracken, Kentucky married to Eliza McAfee b. 15 Feb 1827 in Kentucky d. 28 Oct 1865 in Germantown, Kentucky.
Names, births, marriage and deaths are all from family Bibles that I have originally belonging to them. Also have pictures of their headstones I took in Germantown, Bracken, Kentucky.
It is possible that Joseph's parents are James Patterson and Sarah Thompson but would like more proof than just a guess. Any help appreciated. Joseph is my 2nd GGF. Eliza is my 2 GGM.
Eliza McAfee had two sisters, Mary Jane McAfee m. George W. Hill, Elizabeth m. Samuel G. Reeves.
