More on Meehan family
My g.grandmother is Elizabeth Cecilia Meehan born Feb 29 1898 in Brisbane Queensland Australia arrived in Vancouver, B.C. may 1 1912 on the marama, married Martin Bartoo in 1914 in San Francisco California. Above are facts with proof, I was told she was orphaned at birth, was raised by a barron aunt who planned for her to go to san francisco to be come a nun. When they arrived canidated were not being accepted for a few months. I would like to know if this is true and who her parents are so I can go further in Meehan line.
Thanks for you help in advance

Sarah_Jane, Martin Bartoo was my Great Uncle, my grandmother's half brother. I tried to find the entry for Elizabeth Meehan entering Canada on the Marama. I found no one by that name. The closest match was on page 11 of the manifest for a woman and girl (last name unclear: possibly Colter, Cotter, Cofler, Coffee), Rose age 42 and Lizzie age 12, going to San Francisco, Roman Catholic. Did you find any other entry? Did you search for entry into the US to get a better spelling? Did you check Australian emigration records? My knowing what you have done would keep me from duplicating your work. Thank you for your research. It is good to know someone else is interested in my family's history.

If she was orphaned at birth you should be able to find the deaths in about 1895 for both her parents.
