Looking for McCANN, Thomas DOB Abt 1852
Thomas is my G.Grandfather born in Ireland but lived in Sheffield, Yorkshire and married there in 1878 to Julia Coffey also born in Ireland. Two children born in Sheffield, Thomas and Ann. 1891 Census has the family in Lasswade, Midlothian, Scotland where my G.Mother Mary McCann was born in 1881, brothers Patrick born 1884, Charles born 1886, Sister Jane born 1888, and brother Martin born 1900. On 1901 Census family living 32 Dalhousie Cottages, Cockpen, Midlothian, and shows 3 more children in the household, James 1 yr old, Julia 4 yr old, and Alice 1 yr old.
My G.Mother Mary McCann emigrated to Perth, Australia and married Sidney Herbert Claude Winter in Abt 1919, my Father Joseph Claude Winter was born in Fremantle and his brother Thomas Patrick Winter also. I remember hearing that a sister emigrated to Australia also and I think Charles, a brother ended up in Australia.
I have came to a brickwall and can't locate any more information on the Irish background. Julia Coffey's Father's name was Patrick Coffey and Thomas's Father's name was Thomas McCann.
If anyone can throw some light on any of these connections PLEASE HELP.

Hi Janilye
Thank you very much, I have this information and the Certificates too. It is the McCann's from Ireland I am having the problem with. I have the Great G.Father's marraige certificate from 1878, Sheffield, UK but can't locate what part of Ireland he and wife Julia Coffey were from, the Marriage Certificate info is very limited and can't find the family at all after 1901 Census. Heaps of McCann's in that error came across to UK and they all had the same names
That teacher who made you right that huge essay on the ping pong ball certainly gave you something special for life.
All the best for 2012.
