I am in desperate need to find out information in regards to Robert Bett and Mary Burnett who both came from Scotland and were married in Wanganui in 1857 .

I am another BETT/BURNETT descendant and may be able to help. I picked up the messages between you and John Newman through a Google search so have joined this group to get in touch with you. I have made contact with John through Ancestry and I previously corresponded with his mother some years ago. I am waiting for him to call me when he has time but he seems to be a busy guy.
I think I have found Mary's arrival in NZ!
