Jeremiah McCarthy was born in 1848 and was married to Maryanne (nee Cotter). Jeremiah and Maryanne had seven children - John, Johanna (or Hannah), Margaret (Mag), Cornelius (Con - my grandfather), James (Jim), Patrick (Paddy), and Helena. Johanna (or Hannah) married a Humphrey Desmond, Cornelius married a Rosamund Anne (Rosie) Shepherd (just after arriving in New Zealand),James (Jim) married a Ellen (or Mary) Collins) and Helena married a John O'Connor.

I have lots of information on the Cotters going back three generations - but I have no information at all on Jeremiah McCarthy - my great-grandfather. I can find nothing at all. Any help would be immensely appreciated.
