Journal by talgraig

I have not been able to find a picture or a clue as to the crew except my great grandfather was on board. The ship waa last seen from Bardsey Island, carrying coal from lpool to penarth, a lifebuoy was washed up in portmadog. The weather was very stormy at that time. The ship is not listed in wrecks of the area. Great grandfathers name william bywater

I have only just noticed your mail regarding your Great Grandfathers death on the collier GATESGARTH, of Liverpool, which was posted missing on passage from Partington to Penarth with gas coal.

I have recently added a page to my website www.shipwrecks-wales.co.uk which gives a little information on the loss of this ship.

The site is searchable and the page is called COAL TO PENARTH
