Looking for Squire William Lang

Query by canada_lang

Born in Kilbarchan in 1805. Married Jane Stewart in 1832, in Scotland. Emigrated to Canada. Resided in Otonabee Township, Upper Canada 1835 where he built a mill.

Jane Stewart also born in Kilbarchan in 1805 to James and Jane (Cunningham) Stewart. Jane Cunningham Stewrt died in 1815 and James Stewart remarried Jean Spiers in 1818 and they emigrated to Canada in 1819, settling in Otonabee Township.

I don`t know how or why William Lang was a Squire or why Jane who would have bee about 14 in 1819 did not emigrate with her father to Canada but stayed in Scotland not emigrating until she married William Lang. William and Sarah are my 3rd great grandparents and James would be my 4th.

There is substantial research done on the family here in Otonabee Township, Ontario, Canada. If anyone is interested I could forward their history.

Other families who came to Otonabee Township from Kilbarchan in the 1819-1820s were the Fifes and the Eassons.

Thankyou so much for your assistance Katherine Thomas
