hi pixie,
you don't say if that is Marjorie's maiden or married name nor an approx year
but I have this info on A Marjorie Duncan, however could not find any Marshall connections

If this is not the family you are looking for please give more clues
- * approx dates and * town or district they may have lived

Peter DUNCAN (1832-1907) was born in Scotstoun, Renfrewshire, Scotland
- he married Isabella MURRISON (1839-1919), born Peterhead, Scotland
- Peter & Isabella died in Whakatane, New Zealand

some of their children were born in USA, not known when they arrived in NZ:

1869 - Agnes Duncan
1872 - Annie Duncan
* 1876 - 1944 Oswald Peter Murrison Duncan

their children were:

Thanks so much, Meantime I have further minor details.
Fristly, my Mother is an only illegitimate child of Marjorie, born 1927. and mum is not able to provide much information. However we may have other sources.

Meantime Marjories parents were (Known as) Charles Oscar Duncan And Florence Duncan.

Should they be Oscar Charles and Sarah Florence MACKRELL it will be interesting.
The Florence I am aware of had a sister Daisy, and Brother Bert... possibly another sister.
The surname Mackrell is in the family, but not unless Daisy never married.... and I believe she did. We knew her as Daisy Mackrell,It could have been the use of her maiden name. I am checking with relatives that I don't know, because of Majories pregnancy there was no contact.

Any further help or comments would be great.
This is new to me, so stumbling along.

Suggestions of how or what to do would be great.

I don't know who you are, or where your own tie to this is, but consider yourself hugged.

I am now wanting to dig backwards from John and Martha.

Meantime, I have dug up that there was a Violet.... so we have the right family

I am excited, but seems you are doing the work.
I haven't a clue what to do. Keep it up, or advise.

Thanks Den

I am not connected to the family, just a researcher of (and for) folk in New Zealand

Could not find a marriage for John & Martha in NZ but only spent a little time on it. I'm presuming they were from the UK or their parents were very early pioneers/settlers of NZ

the internet is a great tool for finding ancestors, hopefully someone else has info on this couple so search the internet ...

look at shipping lists for their arrival.
This can be a long a tedious task unless you have an approx year and the place of arrival

Check through New Zealand Birth, Death, Marriage

Read all the old newspapers on Paperspast

There are many cemetery databases on line (and many that aren't) that can be very helpful in finding out snippets of info on their lives as their occupation etc is sometimes listed and some have headstone photos which adds even more

go to the many, many, genealogy sites and search the family trees and post queries as you did here. Eventually you will find all the info you want.

Start your own tree and save what info and photos you have to keep it all in one place. Tribal Pages is a good site (and free for the basic site) but there are many out there
