1852 is a difficult year. News of gold had reached the rest of the world and there were hundreds of vessels arriving in Melbourne. 16 to 20 a day. Many of them abandoned by the crews to head for the goldfields. One such abandoned vessel at Sandridge was the 1,000 ton Duke of Bedford which hung a sign on it "Accommodation for respectable families" For many, many people who came during the early 50's you will not find any immigration document.
Do you have Robert Fisher's date and country of birth? When did he die? Did the obituary give his age ?

Don't know if this will help but there was a Robert FISHER arrived on the "Mobile" in October 1852. Age given as Adult.

There was also a Robert FISHER arrived on the "Aberfoyle" in December 1852 aged 23 years.

There was no John EBNEY recorded.

Robert Fishers date of birth we are told was 1835 or 1836. Born in England. It states in his obituary that he was youngest of 11 children and orphaned at 4years. His guardian was older brother Joseph who immigrated to Canada about same time Robert travelled to Australia. He was said to have travelled with a John Embrey who was also an orphan.

I just read that obituary and it says that Fisher and Emery made a deal with the Captain and sailed out of Bristol. They may not have been on the books. If they were they would have appeared on the Agents List. They were met by The Manifold Agents and went to work on the Manifold's Camperdown Station up near Colac. If they do in fact appear as immigrants on a passenger list, the record would be with NSW Shipping because Victoria and NSW were one till 1853. You need to find a voyage from Bristol to Port Philip in 1852.

Still having a great deal of problems with my ancestor Robert Fisher. Cannot find a trace of him travelling here. Also can't find records of him back in England. On his records says his father was also Robert and his mother was a Ann Jeffreys.
