John (Jack) Whittingslow of Ombersley, Worcestershire

Journal by jken

Jack was employed as a groom at the home of Ellen (Nellie) Pardoe, Yew Tree House, Ombersley. They caused a scandal in 1890 when Ellen eloped to Southwell, Notts, with him and they married there. They went to South America but came back after a couple of years but Ellen's family would have nothing to do with her (apart from her brother John). They had two daughters, Gladys and Annie Rachel but at some point split up and in the 1901 census Jack appears to be living with a new wife, Elizabeth Ford, in Derbyshire, with a two year old daughter. His first wife died in 1901 from cancer. I cannot find any record of the second marriage and by 1911 he is not shown on the census with Elizabeth and now two children.

I would be interested to know if anyone has any more information about Jack after his return from South America and subsequent marriage.
