Penlee lifeboat disaster of 1981

Journal by ANTJAM

My first cousin, KEN TAYLOR (born1930) in the district of West Ham, Essex area,Parents where Walter Sidney Taylor and
Florence May Taylor (born Maton) KEN was married (unknown) and they ran a pub or hotel in Cornwall (b4 1983)
They also had one or two sons (unknown)After the "Penlee" lifeboat disaster of 19th Dec 1981, Ken and his wife were collecting donations for the widows and children of this disaster, and they were both on their way to the bank when they were involved in a tragic accident with a lorry, and both were killed, this would have been early 1982, I think, but I cannot find any record of this incident, nor do I know what happened to their son/s
Any information about Ken and his family will be very much appreciated.

Thank you, ANTJAM

Hello
I found the reg of your cousin's birht on < freebmd.org.uk > in the June ? of 1930 thus: Kenneth W Taylor at W. Ham 4A 24. You could order a copy of his birth cert on line to be sure you have all clues.

There are a couple of leads you might follow then:
A marriage in Sept ? 1958 the brides surname Edwards in S.W. Essex, or perhaps Dec ? 1949 in Romford, the bride?s surname Chapman. A search offers quite a few possibles.

But I suggest your best bet would be to pay a subscription giving you access to the Cornish newspaper archives as I am certain you will find mention of the tragedy there, which will no doubt lead you to the sons eventually.

Good luck??????.

I had another idea - the folks on rootschat are simply incredible and you may well get just what you neeed by posting on < RootsChat.com > the following link should take you straight to the Cornwall board:

I think you will need to register, and I suggest you read a few posts before you re-write your query for the board.
I shall watch how you get on with great interest.
Good luck...........
