hi, my name is Alison Lonsdale but mothers maiden name is ruth geary... the geary s that you are looking for are living at oxen hoath... in kent they are still there, we are descended from commander Thomas geary who we believe was cousin to admiral sir francis geary... admiral sir francis received a baronetcy and so his son was sir William geary who by marriage to the Bartholomew family inhereited oxon heath... but admiral sir francis geary owned and lived in a house called polesdaen lacy in surrey though the present house is not the original one... also as you probably know he commanded the victory and was apparently the mentor to Lord nelson......

there is a bass relief for several descendants on my side from commander Thomas geary downwards on the isle of wight at st georges church....arreton..... other notables on my side are lieut general sir henry le gay geary a high ranking officer in the army who wrote down much of the family tree... taking the history back to the doomsday book..to someone called henry or Richard of slepe cant quite remember but there could possibly be some connection for you there...... and more recently Benjamin handley geary who is my grand fathers brother.. who received the Victoria cross when fighting in world war one at hill 60 ... he is buried at Niagara falls in Canada and we think that he has descendants in Canada.....

Hi Geoff, Tricky to say the least - especially when they keep reusing the same names. My great-grandfather was Harry Vincent Geary, born in 1869, and one of William Standish Geary's brothers. I have some information on their parents, especially on their mother's family the Govetts (2 marriages, 20 kids - now that's multiplying!)and on William Henry Geary and Susan Smythe. You've obviously traced it further back than I have, though. I'd be happy to help fill in any more recent gaps - you know those Govetts means you're Rupert Murdoch's third cousin, right? Hi, I've started looking into the Geary side of my family - I didn't realise it was so interesting! Like Loupie, my great great grandfather is Harry Vincent Geary. I've only just started so am only up to 4th generation going back. it's nice knowing there are others looking up the family tree.

Geary family also becomes gearey we tried doing ours and somewhere long the way thing got really tangled as they always used the same names.
My branch left Ireland and came to Canada.
