Jane Harwood Ulph relations

Journal by Jcamcook

Jane Harwood Ulph married my relative, John Carruthers Bates, in Dunedin, NZ on May 19, 1868. He was from Cold Springs, NY and was a merchant in Dunedin at the time, selling US goods, eg sewing machines there. They moved back to the US and resided in gold and silver mining locations from Aspen Colorado to Monroe, North Carolina. In @ 1904 JC retired to NYCity. I know little about Jane or her family. They had two daughters, I believe. I have a wonderful memoir JC wrote about his life which would be a treasure for any of his relatives. His account of his travels to the California gold rush in 1853, when he was 15 years old I have published and would be delighted to pass a copy on to any of his, or Janes, relatives.
