parent surname ancestors

Journal by jrobidoux1

I have been searching for years for my ancestors on the Parent side of the family. I have read that there were originally 3 families of Parent who came to Quebec from France I believe at the request of the king. Starting at the top with who I believed was my oldest ancestor, Andre Parent and his son Pierre, I can't connect the genealogy to the bottom of my family tree starting with me (maiden name Parent). My father was Bertrand Parent (1922-1984), his father was Napoleon Parent (1890-1972), his father was George Parent (1857-1931). The problem is that I am having trouble with the next name after that. I found a Charles Parent (1833-1906) that I believed was George's father but I can't get anywhere after that. So either Charles is not the next grandfather in line or this name is keeping me from progressing any further. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you. I thought that I was part of the Andre Parent lineage but obviously I had t he wrong child from his marriage to Marie Coudre. I did have several sources that said that andre's father was another Charles (1564 or 65) followed by Jules (1544) then Augustin Cesar (1523-1603. Have you ever come across these names? How did you get your information? Thanks again fo this information.

You could be right too you know. Looking at that Mark Parent file, he has citations from Ren? Jett?'s Dictionaire Genealogique des familles du Qu?bec des origines a 1730, till he reaches Andr? Parent then none.
I went into Ancestry and looked at his tree which is quite extensive and thorough right up to Andre. Then he's picked up the 'One World Tree' which I think is based on popularity. So he's probably just as uncertain as you.
He also has a couple of citations from Maurice Amedee Sabourin and here is a link to Dictionaire Genealogique
While I was in ancestry I did find 6 trees with, Andre Parent 1585 Mortagne , Perche France. died 1661 Beauport,,Quebec,Canada married Marie COUDRAY [sic] 9 February 1607 Perche,Paris-?le-de-France. Charles Parent b:1564 Ferri?res,Doubs,Franche,Comte,France m: Julia Narbey his father Jules 1544 then Augustin Cesar 1523 None of them have any sources or citations and they are all look the same right down to the bad spelling. I think I'd be wary of them.
Good luck, I'd like to help but I'm useless when it comes to French/Canadian research.
