Missing pieces

I have a bare-boned family tree I've created on Ancestry.com, but I'm wanting to delve deeper into the lives of my ancestors. Of especial interest is my 6th great grandmother on my mother's side of the family; her name is Anne Floating Cloud (Vest?). From a quick research, this is the theory; Ann is the daughter of William Turner Vest and Lucretia Lucy Alford. Apparently, Ann was half-Cherokee, one of her parents was of French descent and the other was Cherokee. I believe William Turner Vest was Native American, as he lived in Powhatan, Virginia. William was born in 1735 and around that time (according to Wikipedia) the land there was being settled by the French, but previously was inhabited by Native American tribes. Powhatan was named after Pocahontas' father...just an interesting tidbit, I thought.
Ann was married to Phillip Williams, who was supposedly a quarter Cherokee. I need to print all of this out as I'm just going by memory right now.
This is the lineage I've traced back to Moses Vest, if the Vests are in fact relatives of Ann Floating Cloud. Moses would be my 10th great grandfather and lived between 1650 and 1735.

geneingram1942 on 2015-05-04 22:50:20Hi are you sure Phillip Williams was her husband the dates don't match up, Ann 1754 - 1840, Phillip 1814 - 1888; she would have been 60 years older than him, could Thomas born 1781 have been the husband and Phillip the son? AniWmsBlair on 2015-07-29 07:09:36Philip Williams was undoubtedly wed to Ann Vest in 1808. There may have been an offspring from successive generations given his same name. The record of their marriage was in Surry county NC, I believe and it was in February of the above year. My problem is what Vest line she fits. She named children after the Tunwall Vest line, but I cannot find her listed on the actual Vest family tree, which is online at Tribal Pages. I too want more info. But my latest info indicates that it is not actually Ann Vest who was Floating Cloud, but Philip's Grand Mother or Mother.
Any help appreciated.
