Seeking Finkenbinder (Finkbeiner, Finkboner, etc.) and Payne connection, early 1800's

Query by anglofile32000

Our Elijah F. Payne turns out to have not Payne DNA, but Finkbeiner!
He was born circa 1806 -1809 in VA or KY, if you can believe the census.
I can't find ANY Finkenbinder or related name in VA or KY at this time. There are some in PA...in fact, there is actually an Ely Paine in Chester County, PA at the right time...but I can't find ANY info on him.
Can anyone help with this?
A clue might be that a Moses Payne lives next to Elijah in both 1830 and 1840 (in Hopkins Co KY and Chariton Co., Mo).
