Frederick John Harvey and Fanny Jane Kenning
I am looking for the parents of Frederick John Harvey born circa 1847 in Norwich England. He immigrated to New Zealand unsure what year and married Fanny Jane Kenning in 1880 in Nelson. They had 9 children, 5 boys, 4 girls, 4 of their sons died during WWI. The resided in Takaka. Would like to connect them to my Harvey tree as one of their daughters married a Rogers who are already on my tree through a different line.

If I can help a little it will be with the mother of Frederick Harvey, which I note was Betsy Gowan. I have been researching a little on the previous occupants of the house in which I live which is called The Old Post Office, Heveningham, Suffolk, England. The house was built about 1540. We have lived here since June 1983 and prior to that my parents had the property as Heveningham Post Office Stores (1976-1983). Over the centuries the village shop was known as the Grocers & Drapers and the earliest occupant I have been able to trace was John Gowen, who must have been the father of Betsy. There is a record in The London Gazette publication of 1816 which indicates that in February 1815 John Gowen, a grocer and draper of Heveningham was declared a bankrupt. I picked up Betsy's details from a Rotsweb entry submitted by a Sue Pinkney, also of NZ, indicated that Betsy had a brother, Thomas Gowin (stet) who was born in Heveningham and baptised here on 14 April 1814. She also had a sister, Ellenor. Suffice to say that Betsy Gowen once lived in the same rooms we now occupy. Regards, Allan Barnes
