My Driscoll family came from Leap, Cork, Ireland in the parish of Kilmacabea around 1840. I have reason to beleive some immigrated to Australia. John Driscoll married Julia Dempsey.

Hi, my maiden name is O'Driscoll. Father William Christopher O'Driscoll. Born to Mary O'Driscoll(nee Forbes from Scotland)and Michael O'Driscoll from Kilmacabea Parish Leap Co. Cork Ireland. Michael had two sisters call Julia and Kate. Their parents were Mary Donovan and Patrick Driscoll.
Hello. I just read your response and had to log in immediately. We are definitely related as I am convinced either John Driscoll or Julia Dempsey's mother was a Donavan based on the sponsor at their wedding.
John and Julia married in 1836 in Kilmacabea and had the following kids
Mary - died unknown
Michael - died in CT
Margaret - died unknown
Timothy - died in Chicago
Peg - died unknown
Julia - died in Chicago
Bridget - died unknown
Johanna - died in Chicago
John - died unknown
Patrick - born London 1855, died in Chicago, he is my great grandfather
Based on naming patterns, I think John's parents were Michael and Mary, and Julia Dempsey's parents were Timothy and Margaret/Peg.
Did your family immigrate to London first? My John worked at a Coal factory from about 1853 to the mid 1860's when he died in London. Also his son Michael lived in Australia for a short time around 1900, but came back to CT. I cannot figure out who he knew in Australia to bring him there. Maybe your Patrick is my John's Brother? if Michael is Patrick's first born son then it is very likely and probable.
Please email me directly so we can connect the dots. I;m super excited.

Hi,
I've just found this site and would love to find my family. My mum was called Bridget Driscoll and was born in Cappoquin, Waterford in 1921 - her parents were John Driscoll and Ellen McCarthy. She has brothers called William (Bill), Patrick (Paddy), John and a sister called Margaret. My grandad (John Driscoll) had brothers called Simon and I think Maurice who was known as Bailiff. I remember clearly my mum talking about a family called Donavan and wonder if there is a connection to me there, I am so excited and hope I can find more out about my family.
If anyone can help with more information I'd love to hear from you.
Best wishes
Jo
