Paolo Vasington b. 1864 Terlizzi, Bari, Italy Search

Query by evasington

Hi! I?m a college student and am taking a genealogy and family history course. I am currently seeking more information about my great great grandfather PAOLO VASINGTON (b. around 1864, date of death unknown by me) ? especially Paolo?s parents, of whom I know little. Paolo was born in Terlizzi, Italy, which is in the province of Bari (reference Ellis Island passenger arrival lists.)

Paolo arrived at Ellis Island on November 12, 1922. His ship departed from Naples. According to the passenger arrival lists, two people he knew in America were ?Sabbino,? his son, who resided at 208 Franklin St, Norwich, CT, and his father ?Giovanni,? who resided at 136 Nepperchan Ave, Yonkers, NY. Both Sam and Giovanni were also from Terlizzi.

As family legend has it, Paolo was born out of wedlock, given the last name VASINGTON, and then put up for adoption. I know nothing about his true or adoptive parents, although I would be extremely interested on any information about them.

Paolo was the father of my ggrandfather Savino (Sabbino, Samuel, or Sam) VASINGTON (b. 10 April, 1895 ? d. July 1968). Sam was born in Italy. He married Carmela Tempesta (b. 4 September 1902 ? d. October 1969.) They appear in 1940 US Census. They resided in Norwich and/or New London, CT. Vasington children from this marriage were Angela, Paul, and Frank Vasington. Frank is my grandfather.
Any information on Paolo, Paolo?s parents, childhood, or ancestry, would be greatly appreciated.
