He graduated from there in 1909 with the D.D.S. after 3 years and was the first New Zealand to hold the position on the Faculty of the University of Pennsylvania

Arthur died of pneumonia 19 Dec 1916 and buried Plot 97, Block 4 at Eastern Cemetery Invercargill

Deschler, well-known to the travelling public throughout the colony as the proprietor of one of the leading hotels, died suddenly yesterday, aged forty-four, from heart troubles and congestion of the liver which he had been suffering from for some time previously. Mr Deschler was widely known throught Southland and wherever known he was highly respected
