You do not give any dates to work from but I found this death:
16919/1918 STRICKLAND EDGAR /father WILLIAM /mother HARRIETT /PENRITH
I could not find a birth in NSW. Do you know when he was born?
Did his parents also go to NSW?
No you know of any siblings ?
What was his age at death?
Who did he marry?
Was he married before going to NSW?
Does Edgar's death certificate give any more clues to age and parents details, who was the informant?
Parents names on Death Certificates are not always accurate as it is only information that the informant has supplied.
Is this your Edgar Strickland Marriage

Death of Mr. E. Strickland
Quite a gloom was case over Penrith on Saturday afternoon last when it became known that Mr. Edgar Strickland had suddenly passed away. The deceased gentleman, who re- sided in Lethbridge Street, Penrith, had been ailing for eight years, and suffered from severe attacks of the heart during the past eight months, and during the last fortnight prevented him from following his daily occupation. On the day of his death he was sitting on a chair reading a paper just after lunch, when he suddenly expired at 2. 15 p.m.
He was a very highly respected citizen, and was well known from early manhood, and held the position of verger of St. Stephen's Church, Penrith, for over 20 years, being appointed on 7th August, 1898. He was the third verger of that church (the 79th anniversary of which was celebrated on the 22nd July last), the first verger being the late Mr. George Wolledge, who was succeeded by the late Mr. William Barlow.
He was also a member of the Sons of Temperance Lodge for over 40 years, and held the position of financial scribe the major portion of that time ; and a member of the Order of Royal Foresters for nearly 40 years, in which he held the office of treasurer for a term, and that of secretary for 24 years. He was also a Sunday School teacher for many years.
The late Mr. Strickland, who was in his 66th year, was born at Paddington, his father being the late Mr. William Strickland, who was licensee of the Kentish Hotel, George Street West, Sydney. As a boy he first started to work at St. Mary's with his brother (the late Mr. George Strickland), who was a blacksmith, and later on went to Richmond and Castlereagh, and over 40 years ago came to Penrith. Shortly afterwards he was engaged by Mr. George Besley, sen., at his wheelwright and Coach building Works in High Street. About 20 years ago he met with a serious accident, and was unable to do any work for two years, when he started on his own account, and continued in that capacity until a fort- night prior to his death.
On 27th April, 1877, the above deceased gentleman married Miss Martha Fayers, fifth daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Fayers, of Emu Plains. There are nine child- ren, besides the widow, to mourn their sad and sudden bereavement, viz., Mrs. A. Bashforth, (Mullumbimby), Mrs. E. M. Clarke (Penrith) , Mr. William Strickland (Penrith), Mr. Frank Strickland (Summer Hill), Mr. Albert Strickland (Campsie), Misses Emily and Gladys Penrith), Mr. George Strickland (prisoner of war, Germany), and Master Hernert Strickland (Penrith). There arc also 10 grandchildren, one grandson being on Active Service. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, and was well attended, residents of the town and various parts of the district, as well as members of St. Stephen's Church Council and members of the two lodges, being present. The body was taken to the Church, where a short service was conducted by the Rev. N. M. I.loyd, and an address given by Mr. W. I. Newell. The cortege then proceeded to the Penrith General Cemetery, and the remains interred in the Church of England portion, the Rev. N. M. Llovd conducting the service, followed by Bro. G. L. Besley, P.C.R., reading the last rites of the Order of the Royal Foresters. Mrs. John Price & Son were the funeral directors.
If you contact St. Stephens Church in Penrith they may be able to give you further information they may have details of his birth and parents.
