Joseph Point (Fisk) of Canada and the USA
I am looking for information on my husband's great uncle Joseph Point, born in Canada about 1877. He may also be known as Joseph Fisk. He has a brother, Thomas born about 1875. Their parents Philomene St. Pierre and Francois Xavier Point. Both of Canada. The father died in Canada. Philomene settled in Saranac, NY in 1880 and was listed as a widow, under the name POINT. There is another brother, Xavier (possibly Francois Xavier Point). Philomene is listed as a Fisk in the 1910 Blackbrook, NY census, where she was living with Thomas and his family.

This was transcribed incorrectly. After looking at the document on Ancestry.com , I noted that Filamn is a female, not a male. This is the mother of Thomas, Joseph and Xavier. Their father died in Canada when Philomene (Filman) was pregnant with Joseph. They immigrated to the US in 1880. It is rumored in the family that Joseph was Missing in Action during WW1. However, I do not know if that was under the name of Point or Fisk. Any information that can ;ead in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
The Veteran's affairs of Canada has a virtual war memorial where you can do a search for information about Canadian soldiers who died in any of the wars: http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/collections/virtualmem
I searched for Joseph Fisk and also Joseph Point but did not find any results. When I searched for J. Fisk, there were two--a James Wellington Fisk and also a John Knowlton Fisk. Both died in 1917. Joseph still may have been Missing in Action in WWI, but possibly then for the U.S. army.
I appreciate your information.I did find some baptism information. It stated that Joseph's middle name was Remi. Do you know how I can look for Missing in Action for the US Military?
