- Jane was born in Mitchelstown, County Cork in 1873 to Joseph CONDON (1836-1894) & Catherine Agnes QUINN (1831-1920), she emigrated with her parents & 6 siblings on the 'Wanganui' 1877-1878 (research continuing). Two more siblings were born in Cust, North Canterbury. She attended Cust school in 1880 but was taken out of school in 1884 at the age of 11 'to help with home duties'

from NZETC Arthur Burgoyne Heather, formerly of ?Te Kainga,? Pukerimu, near Cambridge. Mr. Heather is a son of Mr. Arthur Heather, the well-known Auckland merchant, and was born in that city in 1869. He received his education at Christ's College, Canterbury, and after returning to Auckland, entered into business as an ironmonger. Mr. Heather was for some considerable time in his father's warehouse, but turning his attention to farming, he purchased a property of 340 acres in 1891, and devoted all his time to its improvement. He afterwards sold his land, and visited South Africa

... The death occurred at the Kumara Hospital on Sunday night (31st Jan) of Mr Alfred George Heather, late of Otira. A native of London, he was the son of an Anglican clergyman, and 47 years of age. He had been 22 years in New Zealand. Before coming to this Dominion he served in the 15th Hussars Regiment. On coming out to Wellington he joined the Permanent Artillery, and was orderly to Lord Glasgow when the latter was Governor of New Zealand. He was afterwards transferred to the mounted police and was stationed in Taranaki for some time. After resigning from the Force he went to Otira, where he had resided for the past six years
