Knox Family, Aberdeen Scotland

Article by SheenaK

My name is Sheena Jane Knox and I live in South Africa (born 2 Aug 59 in Mbabane, Swaziland) I have two siblings Alison Buss(nee Knox) born 12 September 1956 and Iona Ann Knox born 14 December 1960. My father is Ian James Knox (b. 5 April 1933 in Springs, South Africa). His father was Alexander Coutts Knox born (19 April in 1905, in Aberdeen, not 100% sure of the year. He had two sisters Meg(Margaret) and Doll Knox (both never married and lived in Aberdeen all there lives). Alexander Coutts Knox emigrated to South Africa from Aberdeen in 1929 and married Kathleen Hayter from Johannesburg on 26 March 1932, Kathleen, born 26 January 1910 family originated from somewhere in the South of England. They then moved to Swaziland and Alexander ran a carpentry trade school there. They only had one child, my father Ian James Knox, who on a trip back to Scotland with his parents met my mother Patricia Jean Hardie Aitken who returned to Swaziland with them after 6 weeks to marry in Mbabane Swaziland in 1955, 19 November.

As far as I know we don't have any other living relatives - except that my mother Patricia Jean Hardie Maver, was born from an illegitimate liaison, between Josephine Cormack Maver (b. 21 May 1906 died in Aberdeen on 9 November 1994) and a Bill(William?) Stewart, who subsequently left and went to Canada in 1929 denying this was his child.
