Nicholas Mccoy

Query by realmccoy

Nicholas Mccoy was my Great Uncle. He was born in Ardee County Louth Ireland in 1870.
He joined the British Army when he was about 20yrs in 1890.He was sent to Woolwich
in London to The Royal Field Artillery for basic training. When the Boer War started,1899 to 1902,he was sent to
South Africa. His regiment was the 61st Royal Field Artillery and he took part in a lot of battles. On 16th of March 1902 he was shot in the groin by a BOER sniper. He died of his wounds the following day,St.Patricks Day 17th March. As far as i am aware he is buried in Brakfontein,Vredefort. His rank was Gunner.Would it be possible for someone to take a picture of the grave and send it to me.Many Thanks.
