the NORTHERN MONARCH passengers - Lyttelton 1879
A list of the passengers on the ship NORTHERN MONARCH which sailed from Plymouth 31 October 1878, arriving in Lyttelton, Christchurch 1 February 1879.
There were 348 Government Assisted Immigrants for Timaru & Christchurch (although that number differs on each report)
* She left the same day as her sister ship, the 1315 tons, iron ship 'Western Monarch'
The following is a list of all passengers and was taken from the (pdf file)
Arrival of the Northern Monarch
- that site has a lot of information on the voyage, arrival and more. It has also broken the list of passengers down into the ports they disembarked, whether they were nominated or assisted immigrants and has a family search link
The Northern Monarch was wrecked Nov 1903 on her 3rd voyage to New Zealand
THE PASSENGERS
same names grouped together probably mean that they were of the same family (although possibly not in all cases so treat as a guide only for further research)
