I am trying to find information regarding my great, great grandfather JOHN CHARLES MOORE or he may have called himself just CHARLES born in Mendham, Suffolk, England around 1846. He married an Elizabeth WILLIAMSON in 1869 in Walkington, East Yorkshire.The marriage records show his father as being JOSEPH CORBYN labourer. So presumably John Charles Mother did not marry Joseph Corbyn. However I do not know the name of John Charles Mother and I am now stumped as where to go with my research. CORBYN seems to be a name in Suffolk.
John Charles MOORE and Elizabeth WILLIAMSON had seven children:

ARTHUR MOORE is my Great Grandfather and he married ANNIE HOPPER in 1894 in the Parish church Kirk Ella, East Yorkshire, England. On the marriage records his father was named as John Charles MOORE however on one of the census John Charles is named as just CHARLES.

ROBERT MOORE is my Grandfather and he married a Phyllis Gertrude Johnston in 1925 in Beverley, East Yorkshire. They had the following children:
GIRL STILL ALIVE Born 1926 - Beverley, East Yorkshire
MAUREEN Born 1935 - 1965 Hessle East Yorkshire
I am the eldest girls daughter and would very much like to find out more information regarding the MOORES as it would seem that my Grandfather only seemed to keep in touch with one of his brothers ARTHUR who emigrated to CANADA in the 1950's and we don't even know when he died or where in CANADA he went to live as my Mums memory is not so good these days.
IT WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED IF ANYONE COULD GIVE MORE INFORMATION PLEASE.

junecarter on 2014-04-18 22:07:25I am related to a moore ,in carter side ,I think a J moore collects my family trees ,but like your mum my brain is fagged also, old age they say thins the brain cover. not a normal happening at all ,so look for j-moore I think it maybe Julie . there is a big following in simpsons + bramhill I think , ask the moore families connection

noggin on 2014-04-19 09:10:28Have you got John Charles Mootre'as birth Cert that might show both parents. It is also possible that his mother may have remarried to a JOSEPH CORBYN.
It is also possible that John Charles may have his birth registed in Norfolk :
Mendham was in Suffolk and Norfolk 1837 - 1885 divided by river Waveney
On 25.3.1885 the Norfolk part of the parish of Mendham became part of the parish of Redenhall with Harleston, so that thereafter Mendham was wholly in Suffolk. See also Table 2, notes (b) and (c).

The 1881 Census that noggin found also has a transcription error the original reads Elizabeth not Charlotte. Herbert is 3 months old.
It looks like Charles has died as Elizabeth has remarried by 1891 Census

Do you think John Charles was registered as Corbyn or Moore?
This is the only birth I could find in Suffolk or Norfolk around the right age, under either Corbyn or Moore and Charles or John.
