I cannot find John 1831 or father Mathew c 1800 in the 1841/51 census. Tried various variations of the surname. Also tried baptisms for John in hope of finding mothers name. It is difficult to find anyone prior to 1837 because official registration did not start until then. Parish records were only as good as the vicar who registered BMDs.
Many thanks for all this. It's information that has eluded us forever. Owen.
this might be John 1831 and father Mathew c 1800. I have no way at the moment of proofing it. 1841/51 census are the key.
